The Plaza Hotel - Balanga City, Bataan

Last Holy Week, the family booked two bedrooms with extra bed at The Plaza Hotel, Balanga city. Fortunately, we got adjacent rooms but no interconnecting door.

As its name implies, this hotel is situated right at Balanga city town plaza. For this reason you can say that you are in the center of the action in Balanga, Bataan. Galleria Victoria mall, municipal hall and a 18th century cathedral are just a stone's throw away from the hotel. Nearby are plenty of commercial establishments too.

We checked in last Maundy Thursday and were asked to wait for our rooms to be released. The reception area is at the third floor and accessible only by a small elevator.

Complimentary buffet breakfast, mainly composed of Filipino selection with garlic rice, is served at their function room at the rooftop. Surprisingly, the other place where you can chow in this hotel is a small Japanese cafe, Cafe Kyoto. Though small and has limited menu I could say that the taste is authentic Japanese, the price is affordable as well.

I won't forget this hotel since all the stainless steel tire valve caps of my new SUV were stolen on our first night. The hotel has no exclusive parking area; you have been forewarned. You park your car along the street in front of the hotel at your own risk. However, for 3 nights nothing untoward happened to our car except the missing valve tire caps

Since the hotel is literally new, the rooms are still in their pristine condition including the beddings and amenities. Wide flat screen adorns the wall while a small electronic safe is provided inside the closet. The only drawback is the poor wifi signal in our corner room.

Night came; we loitered at the rooftop to enjoy the view. We didn't see the lighted fountain on our first night due to a holy week presentation right in the front of the hotel. Nevertheless, the view was stunning due to lighting effects on those Spanish colonial architectures and the cobblestones plaza.

As expected in any hotel in the Philippines, the staffs are approachable and accommodating especially at the front desk. Housekeeping and request for extra amenities are promptly met without any ado.
